The first designs of the firm that I discovered were
worn by the fashion bloggers Marta Purriños – Addict Be Iconic – and Luba
Dimitrova – Well-Living Blog –, complementing their outfits sublimely,
providing an elegant, unusual touch.

With the official launch of Hissia last 14 December, a
new jewelry concept has born in Canary Islands, consolidated on three solid
pillars: warm pieces with sober lines, high quality raw materials and an
ethical and sustainable business model.
The terrace of Restaurante Baobab, in Santa Cruz de
Tenerife, was the venue chosen for the presentation of their collections. There,
we enjoyed a splendid sun that accompanied us throughout the whole event.
Their creations, in which semi-precious stones and
silver are combined harmoniously with materials as ebony and natural horn,
didn’t leave anyone unmoved. Their luxury and contemporary aesthetic was a
powerful device.
Beatriz Vergara, the designer of these jewelry
objects, talked us about the process that originated the exposed jewels.
95% of Hissia jewels have been made by artisans in our
workshop in El Sauzal. All the raw materials have been sculpt and polish by
hand to enhance their colours and brightness.
To avoid unnecessary aggressions to the environment,
and as part of the commitment we have acquired, we use raw materials from
sustainable sources.
Hissia also collaborates with various associations of
the islands as AFES - Canary Association of Families and People with Mental
Illness - who manufacture the packaging of jewelry, and Down Tenerife – Down’s
syndrome Association of Tenerife - receiving a percentage of the sales of their
solidarity bracelets.
Attendees received as a little present a recycled
paper notebook that has become my new inspiration notebook - I don’t leave home
without it -. Finally, we said goodbye toasting with champagne to wish them a
successful year.
